Making the right decision when choosing a custom PC can often be a minefield of information. That's why we have devised a simple ratings system that allows you to see what our PCs are good at and what they are not. This information can be supplimented with real world gaming performance. For a more in-depth performance scale then check out the 4 example game benchmarks below this system.
The Ratings
Each PC is given a rating from 1 to 11 based upon how good it is at certain tasks. The higher the rating the better! These tasks include processing, gaming, upgradeability and cooling. When choosing any PC, these important factors should always be considered.
A rating of 1 looks like: Whilst a rating of 10 looks like: A PC that has a "off the scale" rating of 11 looks like this:
It is important to remember that because we deal with the higher end of the market our ratings are based on how systems compare to the very top, and not the bottom, of the market. We often see other rating systems exaggerated which simply do not give a true representation. Our rating system is designed to help you choose the right system for you rather than misleading you in to thinking a system is something it is not.
Processing
This is a rating based on how fast a PC can do day to day stuff such as surfing the web, watching movies, listening to music, word processing, photo and video editing and perhaps just moving files. Several components make up this rating but the most important is the processor (CPU). Other parts that make up this rating are the RAM, sound card, hard drive speed and the motherboard. Typically a family/office PC should have a rating of 2 upwards. Casual gamers should look at PCs with a rating of 6 upwards whilst heavy gamers will want an 8 or more rating. For multimedia editing and workstation tasks the higher the rating the better.
Gaming
The rating here speaks for itself. How good is the computer at gaming? The main part of the PC that determines this rating is the graphics card. The processor and RAM also play a small part in this decision and an even smaller involvement comes from the sound card, hard drive and the motherboard. Casual gamers should be looking for ratings of 5 upwards, moderate gamers, 6/7 upwards and heavy gamers, 8 upwards.
Here is a list of popular games and Genres that we show the recommended processor and gaming rating for essentially running these games on top settings at full 1080p at a smoothly playable FPS (Approximately 60FPS or better) - I.E. how the developer intended!

Upgradeability
One of the many advantages of owning a custom pc is you can upgrade it rather than binning it and starting again. This is dependant mainly on the motherboard, power supply and case. You may notice many of our systems have a high upgradeability rating, this is because we use proper enthusiast branded components and give wiggle room when it comes to case space, power supply wattage and more for future upgrades. Many manufacturers put systems in cases and use motherboards and power supply's that are just about enough for the current system. This goes against everything we stand for, a custom built PC is a given right to be upgradable and each and every system we design and back this up with our own in house upgrade service.
Cooling
A strange rating you may think. However, better cooling means the system will run cooler and quieter, overclock better, are less likely to run into problems and components will last longer. This rating is mainly derived from the case's airflow design and case fan capability as well as the CPU cooler and power supply.
Finally, remember these ratings are of a standard PC. If you find a PC that is lacking then one of the upgrades will put that right! Please feel free to get in contact if there is anything you are unsure about.
